As I write we are being affected and restricted by COVI|D19 (Coronavirus). Our prayers and thoughts are for everyone suffering loss and sickness because of this devasting pandemic. Our heartfelt thanks go to all the brilliant NHS staff, all care workers and those who have sacrificed to help and serve us in so many other ways. Respecting the Lock-down and social distancing is the part we play to prevent the spread of this virus.
This is difficult. Our basic nature is for social and personal interaction with other people. Because Churches, pubs, restaurants, most shops, and clubs/leisure activities are closed we can feel isolated and alone. Let us be clear about one important thing, COVID19 is evil and God does not create evil. We decided to manage life without God, and “like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own,” (Isaiah 53:6).
Of one thing we can be certain, God promises to always be with us when the world throws all sorts of things against us; (Isaiah 41:10) "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand," and Paul writes, (Romans 8:38-39), "For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."
When evil was planned against Joseph he said to his brothers, You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people,” (Genesis 50:20). The evil planned against Jesus failed. His crucifixion and resurrection won the victory over sin, death, and the grave. Are you prepared for ask God to begin a new relationship with you?
