As you all know the Eggstra Special Coffee Morning due to be held in support of Sight Savers on Saturday 28th March had to be cancelled. That was a real blow as many of you know it is a really good morning of fun and fellowship.
However, the good news is that I have received the grand sum of £560.00 to send to Sight Savers even though we were unable to hold the Coffee Morning. Isn’t that quite splendid.
Before the Coffee Morning many ladies were busily knitting chicks and sewing bunnies all in preparation of the big day. June McCall of Lincoln took along some chicks and bunnies and was able to sell many of them to her friends. This resulted in the grand sum of £104.30 being received for Sight Savers.
Again, before the event, Yin Yin of Greetwell Lane asked Russell of Beckside Newsagents if chicks and bunnies could be sold on his premises and he was only too happy to support the charity and raised £137.00. When Beckside Newsagents closed on 5th April, Russell kindly took the remaining chicks to Nettleham Convenience Store and they were also happy to sell the chicks, raising a further £110.00. All this is a fantastic example of the community coming together and helping each other when times are difficult.
Finally I was given a cheque for £200.00 by a most generous gent who felt that Sight Savers should not miss out because the Eggstra Coffee Morning couldn’t go ahead.
Sight Savers will be so grateful to receive this fantastic amount of money to help them treat and cure blindness.
A massive THANK YOU to you all for your support, whether in making chicks or bunnies in the first place, selling them on behalf of Sight Savers to friends and raising many smiles on Easter morning when chicks/bunnies were found.
Keep well, safe and thank you again.
