It is with regret that the Parish Council meetings since the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) have been cancelled until further notice.  With effect from 10th June all council meetings will be taking place remotely with details to be published on village noticeboards and on the Parish Council website.

The remote meetings will usually take place on the second Wednesday of the month and at the time of writing the first Zoom meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 10th June 2020 7pm.  It is not usual for a full council meeting to take place during August and December but that situation may be reviewed for the current year at least.

There will still be a public forum at the start of each meeting when members of the public may ask questions or make short statements to the Council about matters that are of concern to them.  Each speaker will be allowed up to 3 minutes in which to address the council. It would be of assistance if you could advise the Clerk of the subject to wish to raise in advance of the meeting.

South Hykeham Parish Council Community Support Group
The Parish Council formed a support group to respond to the needs of anyone in the local community who was shielding or self isolating in South Hykeham and the surrounding area. The Council has been providing vital support with shopping, prescription collections, welfare visits and a befriending service etc. The Council is Lincolnshire Co-operative Society’s approved Community Group for South Hykeham and the wider area and in the main has been using the local foodstores and pharmacies on behalf of anyone who requires support.

To date, the Parish Council has responded to over 50 requests for support and assistance with referrals coming from Wellbeing, local organisations, local residents and/or their relatives who live further afield and are unable to assist in person themselves.

As a result of some grant funding from Lincolnshire County Councillors it has been possible for the Council to assemble some ‘store cupboard essentials’ foodpacks which have been distributed to a number of people in the area who are shielding or self isolating. The council is very grateful for this financial support which has contributed immensely to the wellbeing of residents who have been experiencing a difficult and worrying time.

The Parish Council is very grateful for the support and assistance it has had from Lincolnshire Co-Operative Society’s Newark Road and Hykeham Green foodstores and pharmacies and the Community Team and from anyone else who has been involved in helping to facilitate this very worthwhile service which will continue for as long as it is needed.
