Just one week after our club signing on night we received official confirmation that all league bowls have been suspended until the end June, a decision about the second half of the season will be made in due course. Accordingly our green will remain closed until social distancing requirements are relaxed. This is obviously a huge disappointment to us all, however at this critical time sport in general appears irrelevant, our overriding concern is the health and wellbeing of our members and the local community.
Throughout the closure we will working within government guidelines attempting to keep the green in a condition that will enable a prompt start when given the green light. On the plus side we are delighted to confirm that Ian Dodge has volunteered to organise our program of internal competitions. Customarily these competitions are played throughout the season however this year we will attempt to play as many as possible into whatever remains of the season when restrictions are lifted, consideration will also be given to extending the season into September.
Our two remote fund raising activities, the 100 club and the lottery bonus ball will continue through the closure, however the monthly 100 club draw will be suspended until it can be witnessed in the traditional way.
I do hope that my next article will be written in better times in the meantime please lookout for each other and above all stay safe.
